SHANNON – Live Edge Red Oak Wood Turned Bowl
(44/39 cm wide, 25 cm high)

This is a special piece, the one I can look at all the time. Shannon has a natural, live edge that follows the exact shape of the trunk she came from. I remember seeing that tree in the forest close to Dresden, right after it fell in the storm, and the shape of the trunk caught my eye immediately. I knew right away this had to be a live edge piece. I wanted to keep that natural shape alive, not turn it away.

There are two openings going through the sides of the bowl, almost like the tree was pierced by a burning branch. A thin turquoise line runs through each one, one going upward, the other downward, following the openings in opposite directions.

Hand turned from red oak, from the  tree that came down in a storm in a forest close to Dresden. This is the piece I always come back to, to look at, to sit with.
