IRIS – Red Oak Wood Turned Vessel
(22.5 cm wide, 17.5 cm high)
Iris is Aleksandra's twin sister. I loved Aleksandra's shape so much, the narrow opening, the thin walls, the top touched by flames, that I turned Iris the very next week to make on purpose what had happened by accident the first time. Same red oak, same tree that fell in a forest close to Dresden.
Iris has a small crack by the opening, which I secured with a couple of stitches. Together, the two of them tell the story of a mistake that turned into something I wanted to make again.
