About a year ago a friend called me that he is cutting a tree in a park nearby and I can take one piece that looks healthy. I went there with my 2 wheel trolley. It was a really heavy piece of wood indeed and I was excited to make something big from it but when I started to prepare it for the lathe with my chainsaw it turned out that bigger part of it is already rotten. I saved a piece though and made Shimooka from it. She is one of these pieces where imperfections make it perfect. There are cracks and bark inclusions and knots. I’m really glad I gave this wood a chance. She is fragile/she is beautiful.
SHIMOOKA (javor). (39.5/36 x 10 cm).
Zhruba před rokem mi volal kamarád, že v nedalekém parku kácí javor. A že tam pro mě má jeden kus, který vypadá celkem zdravě. Vzal jsem svůj rudlík a vypravil se pro něj. Byl to fakt velký a těžký kus dřeva, ale když jsem ho začal opracovávat pilou pro upevnění na soustruh zjistil jsem, že je většina dřeva shnilá. I tak se mi podařilo část zachránit a z toho kusu vznikla Shimooka. Je skvělým příkladem něčeho nedokonale dokonalého. Jsou v ní suky, praskliny a díry. Jsem moc rád, že jsem tomuto dřevu dal šanci. Mísa je křehká a krásná.
