LARA (cherry). Acrylic paint and tung oil. (33.5 x 19.5 cm) I love this bowl so much. There is so much character in her that you can spend hours following the lines drown in the wood. It’s the only bowl turned from the wood that I salvaged from my parents neighbour’s garden. The neighbour wanted to chop it for fire wood and he was happy that I took few pieces to make something out of them. Unfortunately all the pieces were heavily cracked and only one was worth the effort to put on the lathe. There are 6 stitches on Lara. They were made right after I took her off the lathe to prevent the 2 cracks from splitting the piece. After the wood dried completely I removed the wire stitches and replaced them with the wax thread so now the stitches have only decorative purpose.
LARA (třešeň) Tuhle mísu jsem si opravdu zamiloval. Děje se v ní toho opravdu spousta a člověk by vydržel hodiny sledovat, kam se ubírají jednotlivá vlákna dřeva. Dřevo jsem zachránil ze zahrady sousedů mých rodičů. Soused ho hodlal použít na polínka do kamen a měl velkou radost, že jsem se z něj rozhodl něco udělat. Naneštěstí byl nakonec k použití jen jeden kus - ty další už byly natolik popraskané, že bych se je neodvážil dát na soustruh. Mísa má v sobě 6 stehů. Hned po vytočení jsem je tam dal preventivně, aby se mísa nerozlítla a po doschnutí jsem dráty nahradil voskovanou šňůrou a tak je účel stehů pouze dekorativní.
