DeafMessAnger in South-east Asia

Sunday, January 18, 2009

In 2005 i spent few months touring Europe with the bands. I thought it would be great to take my stencil with me and spray it in every venue - in every city i travel to. I never did it though and i still think its a pit, but when i came to Thailand last year i immediatelly decided to cut the stencil and spray it everywhere i go in south east asia. The stencil is not the best one i even made :-), but still im happy i cut it and spread my name around.

This was my final destination - Bangkok before flying back home to Prague. There was one more wall i wanted to spray DM logo on, but when i was shaking the can i heard some voices so i put the  can on the pavement and sat nearby to wait until the street is quit again. There were two teenagers passing the wall and when they spotted the can they took it and started to tag the wall right in front of me. It was great to see them useing it with no fear. Well they were locals and it could be easier for them if they would get caught, but still i was astonished to see that there was no hesitation, no worries. I guess i should learn from them. I didnt even mind they took my can - i was finished anyway.....

so good to see "anti-bush" street art in the streets of Bangkok

Found this stencil in Vang Vieng/Lao. Vang Vieng is one of the most touristic places in Lao and its easy to see huge contrast between traditional Lao society and euro-american culture.

Stamp

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Brought my logo to this artisan in Phnom Phen/Cambodia and ask him to make stone stamp for me. I was afraid it can be too difficult for him to make it, but he said without hesitation that he can. Before he started to work on it he ordered a beer for both of us so we enjoyed drinking it in that really hot and humid weather and than he sat down and started to create my stamp. I couldnt believe how precise and fast he was. Maybe that was that beer that helped him, but what if he drinks a beer with every customer??? Than i would think he is not from China (he was not Khmer), but from Czech Republic or Bavoria.

V Phnom Phen v Kambodži jsem objevil tohohle chlapíka. Na ulici vyráběl razítka z kamene. Můžete si přinést vlastní motiv a on vám ho do kamene vyryje.
